Ex 1 — Agree: mandatory second language161 words

The survey asks whether all students should be required to learn a second language. I strongly agree with this requirement.

First, a second language opens real career doors. When I moved to Canada, the French I had studied at school helped me land a customer service job that required bilingual staff, even though my degree was in an unrelated field. That single skill raised my starting salary and gave me choices my classmates simply did not have.

Second, learning a language builds confidence with people from other cultures. My neighbour's daughter studied Spanish for three years, and during a volunteer trip she was the only member of her group who could speak with local families directly. She returned home more mature and far more curious about the world.

In conclusion, my own experience and the experiences of people around me show that a second language pays off for decades. Every student deserves that advantage, so I fully support making it mandatory.

Ex 2 — Disagree: living without a car155 words

The survey asks whether families in our region can practically live without a car. Based on my own experience, I disagree with this idea.

First, daily schedules with children simply do not match bus timetables. Last winter our car was in the repair shop for three weeks, and taking my two kids to school and daycare by transit turned a twenty-minute drive into a ninety-minute journey with two transfers in the snow. We arrived late almost every single day.

Second, essential trips are often impossible on foot or by bus. My father-in-law attends weekly physiotherapy at a clinic across town, and the nearest bus stop is still a fifteen-minute walk from his building - far too much for a man recovering from knee surgery.

In conclusion, my family's three weeks without a vehicle proved that, outside big city centres, a car is not a luxury but a necessity. I therefore cannot agree with the statement.
