What CELPIP-General LS is
The LS version is the CELPIP-General test without reading and writing.
What it tests
Listening and speaking. There is no reading or writing component.
Who takes it
Citizenship applicants aged 18 to 54, who must prove English or French at CLB 4 or higher in listening and speaking.
The score you need
Level 4 or higher in listening and in speaking. CELPIP levels match CLB levels one to one, so level 4 is CLB 4.
How long it takes
About 1 hour 10 minutes: listening first, then speaking, on a computer at a test centre.
Two components, scored separately
Each component gets its own level from 1 to 12. There is no overall score.
Listening
46 – 55 min · 38 questions
6 parts: daily conversations, news items, problem solving and viewpoints. Every question is multiple choice.
Speaking
15 min · 8 tasks
You answer prompts on the computer and the test records you. Tasks include giving advice, describing scenes, making predictions and giving opinions.
