The survey asks whether people should mostly cook at home or eat at restaurants. Having done both for long stretches, I strongly prefer cooking at home.

During my first year in Canada, I ate out almost every day because my shared kitchen felt inconvenient. The food was quick and sometimes exciting, but I spent nearly $700 a month, gained weight, and never felt truly satisfied with the portions or the amount of salt.

The following year I moved and began cooking dinner five nights a week. The change was dramatic: my food spending dropped by more than half, I finally learned to make my grandmother's soup properly, and inviting friends over for meals became my favourite social activity - something restaurants never gave me.

Because I have genuinely lived both routines, the comparison is easy. Restaurant meals are enjoyable as an occasional treat, but home cooking wins on money, health, and connection, so it is clearly my preference.

The survey asks whether travellers should plan their own road trips or buy organized package tours. Having tried both, I definitely prefer independent road trips.

Two summers ago, my wife and I took a packaged bus tour through the Rockies. Everything was arranged, which felt relaxing at first, but we spent exactly twenty-five minutes at Lake Louise - the highlight we had waited years to see - because the schedule demanded it.

Last summer we drove the same route ourselves. We stayed two full hours at the lake, changed our plans when it rained, discovered a small-town bakery that became the best memory of the trip, and still spent less money than the tour had cost, even after counting gas and hotels.

Having experienced both styles back to back, I can compare them fairly. Package tours remove the planning, but they also remove the freedom that makes travel memorable. For me, the road trip is clearly the better choice.
